In 1912 Great Grandmother Mary Ellen O’Brien McCarroll passed away despite a valiant effort of her sister Johanna O’Brien McCarroll to save her life. Economics of the era precluded the family from purchasing a headstone for Grandmother Mary and her children – Dorothy McCarroll – Catherine Ann McCarroll – Charles Edward – Edward Bryan. She and her children now rest with a identifiable headstone at the Saint Patrick Catholic Cemetery – Godfrey Illinois.
